The Hillcrest girls lost to Highland on Tuesday night, 18-56.
Yani Guttierez led the way for Hillcrest with eight points and eight rebounds. Esther Hughes added seven points to go with six rebounds.
“This was a tough loss for us,” Hillcrest head coach Kari Heusinkveld said. “We haven’t quite figured out how to translate what we work on in practices to games and that’s something that is holding us back. We see glimpses of it in spurts, but we need to find a way to have longer stretches of that with a competitive edge. I’m confident that we will figure this out as a group and see big strides the second half of the season. Our second half is always our best half.”
Hillcrest falls to 1-10 overall, 0-8 in conference play. They return to action on the road at Danville (3-7) on Friday. Tipoff is set for 6 PM.
