Leah Bontrager celebrated her birthday Thursday by placing second at the Mediapolis cross country invitational. Her time was 21:33. Bontrager was second only to Riley Duncan of Twin Cedars who won the race in 19:57. The meet was held at Big Hollow recreation area south of Mediapolis. The course is the most unique one the Ravens see during the season. It includes a combination of gravel roads and technical trails. Sarena Gerber came in next for the Ravens placing fifteenth in 23:34. Chloe Staley returned to the team’s third position placing thirty-seventh in 26:24. Taryn Leichty and Julia Boller tackled the course together finishing in 27:07 and 27:15 for thirty-ninth and forty-first places respectively. Ainsley Shaw bettered her time from last year finishing sixtieth in 40:32. The Ravens placed fourth among the six complete teams. Pekin won the team title.

Colby Harris also celebrated his birthday Thursday by leading the Hillcrest Ravens to seventh place in the field of ten full teams at the Mediapolis XC invitational. Harris ran a personal best effort of 20:42 on the 4.91K course to finish twenty-fourth. Will Kolck came in next for the Ravens placing thirtieth in 20:59. Owen Swartzendruber had a good effort placing forty-first in 21:41. Collin Miller was next for the Ravens placing fifty-fourth in 23:02. Miller ran the course over two and a half minutes faster than last year at this meet. Jesse Slater rounded out the scoring placing seventieth in 25:16. Colten Glosser and Brady Millikin of Pekin went 1-2 in 17:37 and 17:38. Pekin won the team title with 24 points.
