Music Camp will be led by Sheila Raim and Kaylee Feigenspan. Eleya Shetler will also be assisting with the camp. Sheila is looking forward to exploring musical stories by some of the world’s great composers through listening, playing, movement and art activities with the campers. Kaylee is excited to share and experience music with our campers as well as explore the stories that inspired the music. No prior music experience required. Sign up today on our camps page!
Sheila Raim, a 1981 graduate of Iowa Mennonite School, began her teaching career at IMS in 1987 following her graduation from Eastern Mennonite University with a degree in music education. During the ten years she was a part of the IMS faculty, she developed and directed the instrumental program and taught Spanish. She has maintained a private studio of string, piano, and voice students for the past 32 years, and is currently on staff with the Mid-Prairie Home School Assistance program where, among other things, she directs the choirs, leads the string orchestra program, and provides literacy support for students and families. In addition to a B.A. in Music Education, she also holds a master’s degree in Spanish Teaching from the University of Northern Iowa. She loves making music and is passionate about reaching the hearts and minds of her students as she helps them become skilled musicians.
Kaylee Feigenspan is from Kalona, Iowa, and began studying piano at the age of seven. During high school, she studied under the direction of Susan See at IMS. While studying with Mrs. See, Kaylee was selected to receive the Truman State University Piano Fellowship, a four-year full tuition award. During her time there, she studied piano performance under the direction of Dr. David McKamie and graduated with top honors in the spring of 2018. After graduation, Kaylee returned home and married her best friend, Ty, before opening a piano studio in her home. In the fall of 2018, she was offered a position at Iowa Mennonite High School to be the resident piano instructor. After one year of teaching in her home and at IMS, Kaylee is excited to continue building her studio. She loves the opportunity to work with students one on one and enjoys providing a place for her students to learn and perform music in her community.
