IMS played at Wapello last Monday evening. IMS jumped out to an early lead scoring 3 runs in the top of the first inning getting a RBI single from Jacob Boller. IMS added 2 more runs in the third inning, highlighted by a RBI double by Blake Bontrager. Noah Miller scored in the fourth inning on a RBI single by Eli Ours to make the score 6-0. IMS added another 2 runs in the top of the sixth inning and two more runs in the seventh inning. Wapello scored their only run in the sixth inning making the final score 10-1. Trevor Leyden got the win on the mound for IMS pitching all seven innings allowing just three hits while striking out five batters. Luke Schrock, Drew Blauvelt, Jacob Boller, Blake Bontrager, Trevor Leyden, Eli Ours, and Noah Miller all had hits in the game for IMS.
IMS played Wednesday afternoon at home against Highland for Senior Day. Highland jumped out to an early 5-0 lead before IMS got on the board in the bottom of the third inning on a 3 run home run by London Schrock to make the score 5-3 after three innings of play. IMS added a run in the fourth inning on a SAC fly by Eli Ours to bring the score to 5-4. After Highland added a run in the fifth inning IMS loaded the bases in the bottom of the fifth inning but was only able to score one run making the score 6-5 after five innings of play. Highland went on to add one more run in the seventh inning as the Huskies went on to win the game 7-5. IMS celebrated the careers of 4 seniors after the game: Trevor Leyden, Blake Bontrager, Cody Jones, Jacob Boller. IMS is 10-7 overall and 10-3 in conference play. IMS finishes the regular season July 9th at Winfield-Mt. Union before hosting the first round of District play Saturday, July 13th at IMS.
