IMS played Louisa-Muscatine in a doubleheader Monday at L&M. In game one IMS got on the board early with 2 runs in the first inning with 4 hits including an RBI single by London Schrock. Noah Miller pitched for IMS allowing just 2 hits while striking out 9 Falcon batters. IMS went on to win game won with the final score being 2-0.
In game two against L&M, IMS once again got the scoring started early with 3 runs in the top of the first inning, getting RBIs from London Schrock and Drew Blauvelt. Eli Ours and Trevor Leyden each scored in the second inning to give IMS a 5-0 lead. L&M scored one run in the bottom of the second inning to make the score 5-1. IMS added another run in the fourth inning and 4 more runs in the fifth inning to make the score 10-1 after 5 innings. In the fifth inning, Eli Ours had a 2 RBI single, Blake Bontrager added an RBI single, and Jacob Boller added an RBI for IMS. IMS scored one more run in the seventh inning to make the final score 11-1. Trevor Leyden got the win on the mound for IMS pitching all 7 innings, allowing just one hit and striking out 7.
IMS played Mediapolis in a doubleheader Tuesday evening at home. In game one IMS got out to an early lead scoring one run in the first inning on an RBI double by Blake Bontrager. IMS scored two more runs in the third inning on an RBI single by Trevor Leyden and a SAC fly by Blake Bontrager, scoring Noah Miller and Eli Ours. Mediapolis scored one run in the first inning and three more runs in the third inning before their bats really came alive in the fifth inning when they added seven more runs to take an 11-3 lead over IMS. Mediapolis would go on to win game one 13-3 in 6 innings. Offensively for IMS, Noah Miller and Trevor Leyden both went 3-3 at the plate.
In game two Mediapolis jumped out to an early lead scoring 3 runs in the top of the first inning. IMS answered with two runs in the bottom of the inning to make the score 3-2 after just one inning of play. IMS added a run in the second inning to tie the score 3-3. Mediapolis responded with a run of their own in the top of the third inning to regain the lead 4-3. The score remained there until IMS was able to score 4 runs in the fifth inning, getting an RBI double from London Schrock, to take the lead 7-4. The score remained there behind a strong pitching performance by Eli Ours as IMS went on the win the game by the score of 7-4. Eli Ours got the win on the mound striking out 8 Bulldog batters.
IMS traveled to Pekin for a doubleheader Thursday evening. In game one IMS scored 3 runs in the first inning getting RBIs from London Schrock, Kobe Borntrager, and Drew Blauvelt. IMS maintained a 3-1 lead until the fifth inning. Pekin scored 6 runs in the top of the fifth inning to take a 7-3 lead. IMS came back with one run in the fifth inning on an RBI single by London Schrock to make the score 7-4 after five innings. In the sixth inning, IMS scored 4 runs on a 2 RBI single by Blake Bontrager, a bases-loaded walk, and an RBI single by Drew Blauvelt to take an 8-7 lead. IMS would go on to win game one 8-7. Kobe Borntrager got the win on the mound for IMS pitching the final 2 innings after a strong start from London Schrock.
In game two Pekin got out to an early lead scoring 3 runs in the second inning and 3 more in the third inning to take a 6-0 lead. IMS got on the board in the top of the fourth inning on a solo home run by Blake Bontrager. Pekin continued their strong hitting adding 3 more runs in the fourth inning and two more runs in the fifth inning to win the game 11-1 in 5 innings. Heading into next week IMS is 9-6 overall and is tied for first place in the conference with a 9-2 conference record.
