Senior Suzanna Yoder and Freshman Leah Bontrager both qualify to compete at the state track and field meet based on their performances at the state qualifier meet Friday night in Central City. Suzanna qualified in three sprint events. She qualified in the 100-meter with a time of 13.29. She also qualified in the 200-meter with a time of 27.47. Her qualifying time in the 400-meter is 1:01.02 and ranks seventh among the qualifying times. Leah Bontrager qualified in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:34.80.
Suzanna will compete in all her events Thursday afternoon beginning with the 200-meter prelims at 4:20 p.m. The 100-meter prelims and 400-meter final will be later Thursday. Both the 100 and 200 finals will be Saturday. Leah will be competing in the 800 meter final Saturday at 10:30 a.m. The Iowa high school track and field championships are held at the famous Drake Stadium in Des Moines.
