Soccer falls to Danville

IMS 2, Danville 3

Injuries and tired bodies took their toll as IMS ran into an inspired Danville team in the opening rounds of the SEISC tournament Friday night. With two starters out to injuries and a couple of others not in full form, IMS was able to score first with Jorge Canchola sending a pass to Louis Etienne twelve minutes into the first half. Danville responded ten minutes later taking advantage of their speed to even the game. As time ticked off in the half Danville scored to take a 2-1 lead into halftime.

At halftime, IMS made a defensive adjustment to deal with the speed Danville showed up front which limited Danville’s chances. As time began to wind down IMS began pushing numbers forward trying to find a way to even the score. Danville was able to take advantage of this adding a third goal halfway through the half. IMS continued to push forward trying to find their way back into the match. With 16 minutes on the clock, Blake Bontrager sent a ball into the box where Drew Blauvelt struck the ball, keeping it low to the ground to make the score 3-2. In the closing minutes, IMS continued to create good chances but could not find a way to stick the ball in the net.

IMS moves to 8-4 overall and remains at 6-1 in the conference race. IMS finishes its regular season Monday night, May 13 at IMS with the game time at 4:30. Between the varsity and JV games, IMS will recognize four seniors, Jacob Boller, Blake Bontrager, Louis Etienne, and Cody Jones.
