Sophomore Aaron Hershberger won the 110 meter high hurdles at the Hawk Relays hosted by Central Lee Monday April 16. His time of 18.01 is a personal best. Hershberger also placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles race finishing in 1:04.86. Toby Chen, Colby Harris, Hershberger and Brian Nchoe joined together to run the sprint medley relay (100-100-200-400) in 1:53.67. Chen and Harris also competed in both the 100 and 200 meter dashes. Harris also recorded a personal best time of 1:00.75 in the 400 meter dash.

Senior sprinters Suzanna Yoder and Mackenzie Gutierrez again represented Iowa Mennonite with strong performances in the open sprints. This week it was at the Central Lee Lady Hawk relays. Yoder and Gutierrez went 2 and 5 in the 100 meter dash in 13.82 and 14.35 respectively. Gutierrez’s time was a personal best. Yoder was third in the 200 meter dash in 27.99. Gutierrez’s time was not recorded. The pair scored 12 team points in the 400 meter dash by placing second and fourth in 1:04.29 and 1:08.77. Gutierrez’s 400 time was also a personal best. Sarah Miller scored a team point by placing sixth in the shot put with a throw of 28 feet 1 inch. Her discus throw of 63 feet 8 inches was a season best. Malia Sedlacek threw a personal best of 54 feet 7 inches in the discus.
