This week in chapel, we primarily focused on the theme of International Education Week. But first, on Monday, our special speaker was Scott Roth from PA. Scott was in the area for meetings at Sugar Creek Mennonite Church in Wayland, IA and graciously offered to come to speak to us at IMS. Scott encouraged us to find our identity as children of God. Then as children of God, we respond to whatever calling God has for each of us. Here is a video of Scott’s time with us: https://youtu.be/EbE_qgFAlQo.
Tuesday’s chapel time was spent in small groups where we were encouraged to reflect on the input we’ve received over the last few weeks.
On Wednesday, Steven Xie, senior IMS student from China, shared about his country and responded to some questions.
Thursday’s chapel continued our international theme by featuring IMS junior Brian Nchoe from Kenya. Brian shared with us about his home country. We are blessed to have both Brian and Steven with us at IMS.
We wrapped up our international emphasis on Friday with Sierra Cheney’s friends from Sudan visiting us. (Sierra, could you put their names in here, please?) shared with us about their experience as Sudanese people in Iowa City. We were served delicious chai and coffee with breads after the chapel was over.
