Boys get win on Alumni Night

IMS hosted Columbus on Alumni Night and defeated the Wildcats by the score of 70-33, as all but one got into the scoring column for IMS. IMS led 15-7 after one quarter and then 36-19 at the half. A 22-5 third quarter sent IMS into the final frame with a 58-24 lead.

Eli Ours led the way offensively with 16 points, including two treys and 4-4 from the charity stripe. Blake Bontrager and Trevor Leyden scored 10 points apiece and Cody Jones tallied nine. Leyden also converted two from distance. Kobe Borntrager scored eight points, Caleb Gingerich had six and Jeremy Niemeyer added four points. Louis Etienne added a trey, and Drew Blauvelt  and Noah Miller completed the scoring with two points apiece. Borntrager and Bontrager led with nine and eight rebounds, respectively. Gingerich had team-highs of seven assists and eight steals, and Jones and Borntrager had three assists apiece. Ours had four steals and Borntrager had three.

Coach Dwight Gingerich said “we were able to be disruptive with our defensive pressure which  created scoring opportunities for us, and we moved the ball well for good looks. It was a terrific Alumni Night environment with a packed house, so a terrific atmosphere and a great opportunity to get each of our guys quality minutes.”
IMS goes to 5-2 on the season and next plays Friday at Highland.
