The IMS Operating Board wishes to announce that the search process for a principal will soon be underway. It will be a careful and diligent search and likely would not be concluded prior to the beginning of the next school contract year. Therefore, Dwight Gingerich will serve as the Interim Principal for next school year. Dwight’s long history with the school and his current role on the Administrative Team will allow the school to continue moving forward during this search process.
Please be in prayer as the search committee is developed and for those considering the Principal position. We will inform constituents when the committee has been named so that suggestions for potential candidates can be given to the appropriate people.
Dwight has been with IMS for 36 years and has served in many different capacities from coaching to teaching to guidance and helping in administration. Currently Dwight is the Guidance Counselor, Athletic Director, Assistant Administrator and Boys’ Basketball Coach. Dwight has his MA in Counselor Education and his Administrative Endorsement and Licensure. Dwight is married to Mo who is a 4th grade teacher at Mid-Prairie. They have three children: Michaela and Eli, who graduated from IMS and attend Goshen College and Caleb is a junior at IMS. Dwight is a member at First Mennonite Church in Iowa City. During this time of Dwight serving as Interim Principal he will continue to coach basketball, but IMS will be looking to find ways to cover Dwight’s other roles. We are grateful for Dwight’s long service to IMS and willingness to serve in this capacity.
