Concert information

IMS will be hosting the 2016 MSC Choir Festival. For 53 years, students from more than a dozen Mennonite schools across the nation have gathered to “make a joyful noise.”  Choirs will travel from Pennsylvania and Florida; Oregon and Canada; South Dakota, Indiana, Ohio and Virginia. The festival changes locations each year and has even been held in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The last time it was in Iowa was 2005.

They will rehearse Friday and Saturday in preparation for the Sunday concert. Each choir will sing one number individually during the concert, following which all 450+ voices will combine to form a mass choir under the direction of Dr. Scott Hochstetler, associate professor of music at Goshen (Ind.) College. Dr. Hochstetler has relatives in southeast Iowa, and has served as a clinician and guest conductor on numerous occasions in addition to his teaching and conducting duties on the college campus.
