Baseball hits ball well and beats Highland 15-5

IMS scored one run in the first and six runs in the second to build a 7-0 lead after two innings. Cameron Gingerich and Tanner Leyden each had a two RBI double in the inning. Highland got on the board with two runs in the third inning and three in the fourth to make the score 7-5. The IMS offense came alive again in the bottom of the fourth inning scoring eight runs to make the score 15-5.

The defense held the Huskies scoreless in the top of the fifth inning to end the game on the run-rule. Gingerich finished the night with a double three RBIs and three runs scored. Reggie Hostetler had a double and three RBIs and Tanner Leyden got the win on the mound pitching all five innings for IMS.

“We had very good at bats tonight, the guys were patient and we hit the ball hard all night. We did a good job of staying focused on defense and we made a lot of solid plays defensively as well tonight,” said Coach Danny Hershberger.

IMS is 4-3 on the year and will play in the Mid-Prairie Tournament on Saturday with the first game starting at 1 against Mt. Pleasant.
