4 Dubs 4U Interterm

Lee Ebersole led his group of guys in creating a wood project for Crooked Creek Christian Camp. The group turned cedar wood into three beautiful benches that will be used on the camp site. They learned to use their own hands and power tools to shape a pile of wood into a useful piece of furniture that will benefit many people for years to come!

Phoenix Interterm

Jill Widmer Lundberg’s group arrived in Phoenix on Monday night. On Tuesday they worked at House of Refuge (a men’s homeless shelter) landscaping, weeding and loading rocks. It was hard work!
Their group likes to work hard and play hard so after a day of work they went to Jumpstreet, a trampoline park in Phoenix. There was a dodgeball court, a foam pit and a huge room of trampolines to choose from. They were invited to Keith and Helen Erb’s house (student Mollie Ferguson’s grandparents) for a delicious home cooked meal. Wednesday they picked citrus fruit in the morning and juiced over 700 oranges to give to the House of Hope (a shelter for single moms) for a fun evening we are planning for the residents. So far the group has been enjoying the warm weather and getting to know each other!

Interterm Groups leave for Chicago

Two different interterm groups left for Chicago Wednesday morning transported by the IMS bus driven by Marcus Miller. One group led by Marcus Miller and assisted by Catrina Miiller will go to the Community Mennonite Church in Markham, Illinois. They will be participating in service projects and helping in the day care there.

The second group is going to JPUSA (Jesus People USA) in Chicago. Darvin Yoder and Gloria Yoder are leading this group. They will volunteer to help JPUSA in the services they provide and worship with them on Sunday morning. JPUSA is an intentional community of 450 people who share their resources and mission on Chicago’s near north side.

Two Wheeled Destruction and Mayhem Interterm

Karenza and Neil Yoder are leading the Two Wheeled Destruction and Mayhem interterm. The ten, all guy group is learning about motorcycles and how to fix and assemble bikes in Neil’s shop. On Tuesday they visited the National Motorcycle Museum and the J & P Cycles Shop in Anamosa. Locally they went to Ned Figgins shop to garner his wisdom and then spent time drawing designs for their own “dream cycle.”  There are three groups of students designing mini choppers and will be chopping, welding, grinding, and piecing their choppers together over the next three days.
