Lines form to buy the delicious fritters!

The IMS PTO earns money by selling fritters at the Kalona Fall Festival. Last weekend seemed to be the perfect weather for eating fritters! Mary Lou Gingerich coordinates this project by finding volunteers for labor and food, purchasing items that are not donated, contacting people for other supplies like the apple cutter, apples, and sacks and spending Friday working in the booth and making sure everything is running smoothly. IMS greatly appreciates all the time that Mary Lou puts into this! As always, Don & Tami Miller donate their delicious apples to the cause, Jim & Dave Yoder from Pioneer give us many sacks to use, and Richard and Jackie Etheredge lend us their labor-saving apple shredder.

We earned $2,917.61 this year which will be used for various classroom supplies and materials that teacher’s need.

PTO Sells Apple Fritters at the Kalona Fall Festival

Lon & Julie Marshall sell the bags of fritters to a seemingly "never -ending" line!

The Parent Teacher Organization benefited from another successful year of selling Apple Fritters at their booth at the Kalona Fall Festival. The almost $2,700 generated will be used for various “above budget” needs in the classroom or other projects that benefit the entire student body.

Tami Brenneman quarters the washed apples in preparation for dicing them in the machine.

Our appreciation goes to Mary Lou Gingerich who coordinated the booth by calling and organizing volunteers, making sure all the supplies were on hand and by helping keep everything running smoothly on Friday and Saturday. Mary Lou wishes to thank everyone who donated supplies and those who helped work a shift at the booth. IMS also wants to recognize Don & Tami Miller and Paul & Leta Miller for again donating the delicious apples which is the most important ingredient! Also, the apple slicer that Richard & Jackie Etheredge let us borrow each year cuts down on some of the apple dicing labor which is very much appreciated. Thanks to Jim and Dave Yoder (Pioneer Seeds) for donating the bags that the fritters are sold in.

Working together increases the sense of community among faculty, staff and parents at Iowa Mennonite School and all are encouraged to take part in this event next year.

Apple Fritter Time at the Kalona Fall Festival

The sun came out from behind the rain clouds in time to shine over the Kalona Fall Festival on Friday and Saturday, September 25-26.  Many IMS teachers, staff, parents and students volunteered to make this another successful year of fritter selling!  Over $3,100 was generated from this fundraiser.
Mary Lou Gingerich, coordinator for this event, wishes to thank Paul & Leta Miller and Don & Tamara Miller for again donating the delicious apples which make our fritters extra special!  Also, thanks to all who contributed food and time in helping make and sell over 7,700 fritters!
