Ten Compassion Club members volunteered at Crowded Closet last Saturday morning. Students had an enjoyable time presorting donated items, jewelry, games and toys as well as tagging clothing and color coding them on the racks. Every Monday morning Compassion Club members sell muffins. Money raised helps fund charity projects throughout the year. So far this year Compassion Club has donated a llama, chickens, and honeybees through Heifer Project International and to Pastor Jose who spoke in chapel about his ministry to the very poor in northern Mexico.
During the year Compassion Club has helped support local food programs and homeless shelters, Heifer Project International, two children through Children International, among other things. Monday evening Compassion Club members packaged 2160 meals for “Kids Against Hunger”. That’s ten boxes each holding 36 bags with a bag providing enough food for six people. Each bag, consisting of a blend of dehydrated vegetables, soy, vitamins, minerals and rice, requires only boiling water to fix. According to the food scientists who developed […]
