Iowa Mennonite School

Welcome to the IMS Admissions section. I am Candi Schmieder, the Director of Enrollment. I live in Marengo with my husband, Doug and our three children. We have a daughter, Riley, and two sons, Jacob & Mitchell. I just started at IMS this July. I grew up in the Washington, IA area and attended Washington Mennonite Church. My family has attended West Union Mennonite for the past 16 years. Doug & I were youth group sponsors for five years and I taught Sunday School for three years for middle school girls. I love being around young people! I worked at Auto Glass Center for 18 years in customer service and software testing and was on Marengo City Council for four years.

 

Along with being involved at church, I have been involved with numerous community and school groups such as Friends of the Marengo Library, Pennies for the Park, Marengo Community Center, Inc., Iowa Valley PTO, Iowa Valley SIAC and Pennies for the Pool. During my business and community involvement I have helped with fundraising and developing strategic plans to complete community improvements. When the company I worked for sold, I decided to use that time to finish my bachelor’s degree. I graduated from Iowa State University with a Bachelor’s in Liberal Studies in July 2011.

 

I have always enjoyed the community atmosphere at IMS and have seen the way they have supported and educated many young people as we attended numerous events as youth group sponsors. We just went through the decision making process this year with our daughter, Riley. That has given me new insight into the process that I will be able to share with those considering IMS for their high school education. I look forward to using my skills in planning and working with young people to enhance the IMS community. I also look forward to sharing the opportunities at IMS with new families.
