Boys SEISC honors announced

Eli Ours

IMS had six players receive SEISC All Conference recognition, led by sophomore Eli Ours, a unanimous selection to the First Team. Ours led the team in scoring at 13.6 points and shot 75 percent from the free throw line. Seniors Trevor Leyden, Caleb Gingerich and Jeremy Niemeyer were Second Team selections. Leyden averaged 10.6 points and led the team in steals with 46. Gingerich averaged 6.2 points and led the team in assists with 102. Niemeyer averaged 10.8 points and led the team in rebounding at 6.5 a game. Gingerich and Ours finished in the top four in the conference in assists, and Leyden, Gingerich and Ours all finished in the top five in steals. Niemeyer finished in the top five in rebounding. Junior Kobe Borntrager and senior Blake Bontrager received Honorable Mention recognition. Borntrager averaged 6.9 points and shot 61 percent from the floor. Bontrager played an invaluable 6th man role, getting a number of starts and averaging 5.3 points and 3.3 rebounds a game.

Coach Dwight Gingerich said “these selections reflect we were a team and that we needed us all. I like the improvement that our team showed through the season, I’m happy for each of these guys, and the recognition is well deserved.” IMS finished third in conference play behind Pekin and Mediapolis, with a conference mark of 10-5, and 13-7 overall.
