The IMS PTO sponsored work days this summer to offer extra help to our Maintenance Director, Joe Swartzentruber. Several PTO members showed up to offer their talents. A total of 65 people donated an estimated 162 hours. The work was enjoyable and gave families the opportunity to get to know each other better. We even had new families participate.
Projects included cleaning up and landscaping on the west side of the school, weeding and mulching around White Gables, painting the curb and steel gate to the athletic field, replacing the siding on the southeast corner of the concession stand near the girls’ restroom with steel, painting the soccer practice and game goals, stripping the lower parking lot, washing all windows. The workers also scrubbed carpet in math classrooms, the science lecture room, the office, and in the teacher’s lounge. There was a thorough cleaning of the auditorium and they pulled out bleachers in the gym and dusted them off. Additional projects included weed-eating, painting the steel bleachers on the soccer field, rebuilding the bridge over the cross-country course in the timber; trimming and cleaning the school sign facing Lower Deer Creek, cleaning the fence line east of the soccer dugouts, and trimming trees. A huge thank you to Joe Swartzentruber for coordinating everything and to PTO leaders Kim Blauvelt, Cindy Bontrager & Kristin Jones as well as the tremendous help from everyone who showed up to help! Our students, faculty, and staff have noticed your hard work.
