IMS watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 13-2 loss to Wapello on Monday. Wapello scored 7 runs in the first inning, 2 in the third and 4 in the fourth to clinch the win.

IMS collected five hits on the night. IMS scored twice in the top of the third when Avery Blauvelt led off with a walk. Blauvelt scored on Mia Graber’s double to right field. Hannah Harris singled to center field, advancing Graber to third. Sarah Miller hit a hard single to left field, scoring Graber. IMS went on to load the bases that inning, but failed to score more runs.

Leah Bontrager took the loss for Iowa Mennonite. She allowed ten hits and 13 runs over four innings, striking out two. Graber and Miller each went 2-3 at the plate.

IMS Grabs Lead In Fifth to Beat Mediapolis

Iowa Mennonite was the home team in the first game of a double header at Mediapolis on Wednesday. IMS took the lead late and defeated Mediapolis 7-3. IMS got things started in the first inning when Mia Graber singled, scoring two runs. Mediapolis knotted the game up at three in the top of the third inning. The game was still tied with IMS batting in the bottom of the fifth when Avery Blauvelt hit a solo homer. IMS tallied three runs in the sixth inning. Suzanna Yoder, Rubye Ney, and Blauvelt all moved runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning.

Leah Bontrager was the winning pitcher for Iowa Mennonite, her first varsity win. She allowed five hits and three runs in seven innings, striking out two. IMS had 11 hits in the game. Blauvelt, Hannah Harris, and Sarah Miller all had multiple hits for Iowa Mennonite. Blauvelt went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead IMS.

IMS Sweeps Mediapolis

IMS snagged a late lead and defeated Mediapolis 9-6 in the second game of a double header last Wednesday. Mediapolis scored 4 runs in the first inning. The game was tied at five in the top of the sixth when Mia Graber singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run.

Iowa Mennonite IMS Varsity put up three runs in the third inning. Iowa Mennonite’s hits were led by Hannah Harris, Joya Schrock, and Hershberger, who each had RBIs in the inning.

Leah Bontrager started the game for Iowa Mennonite. She allowed 4 hits and 5 runs. Suzanna Yoder was the winning pitcher for IMS, allowing 1 run on 3 hits and striking out 6.

IMS Falls Short Despite Early Lead

Iowa Mennonite lost to Columbus Junction on the road last Thursday, 16-6. IMS got things moving in the first inning when an error scored one run, but Columbus came back in the third inning to score eight. Leah Bontrager and Suzanna Yoder each pitched. Bontrager took the loss for Iowa Mennonite, surrendering 6 runs on 3 hits and striking out 1. IMS got 6 runs on 5 hits. Rubye Ney went 2-2, including a double, to lead IMS at the plate.
