Highland Takes First Game of Varsity Doubleheader

The IMS softball team watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 12-4 loss to Highland on Monday. IMS struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively, giving up 12 runs. IMS tallied three runs in the third inning when Avery Blauvelt hit a homerun over the left field fence scoring Suzanna Yoder and Rubye Ney who had singled and walked. Highland erupted with six runs in the third inning on 4 hits and 2 errors. Hannah Harris took the loss for IMS. She pitched seven innings, allowing 12 runs on 12 hits and striking out three. Yoder went 2-3 and Blauvelt went 3-4 with 4 RBI.

IMS Drops Game to Highland After Late Score

IMS lost a close one in the second game of a varsity doubleheader Monday, 7-5. The Maroon and Black tallied 3 runs in the third inning when Rubye Ney doubled, Avery Blauvelt drew a walk, Mia Graber singled and Sarah Miller hit a drive back to the pitcher. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the fifth. Hannah Harris took the loss, pitching six innings, allowing 7 hits and 7 runs while striking out 2. IMS racked up six hits in the game with Ney and Miller collecting 2 apiece. Graber had 2 RBI.

IMS Stymied by Cardinal

IMS had a tough time with Cardinal’s offense Wednesday afternoon, dropping the game 15-5. IMS scored four runs in the third inning led by Rubye Ney, Avery Blauvelt, and Hannah Harris who each doubled. Cardinal exploded for 7 runs in the fifth inning that included a home run. Harris took the loss for IMS, surrendering 15 runs on 15 hits over five innings and striking out three. IMS had 7 hits.

IMS Rallies in 7th But Falls Short

Despite an 8-run deficit in the sixth inning, IMS pounded their way back but fell short in their 9-7 loss to Central Lee on Friday. IMS rallied for 8 hits and 6 runs in the top of the 7th inning. Rubye Ney, Avery Blauvelt, Mia Graber, Sarah Miller and Leah Bontrager each collected singles and Hannah Harris and Yani Gutierrez each doubled to lead IMS at the plate. IMS racked up 11 hits in the game. Blauvelt went 3-4. Harris took the loss for IMS, allowing 8 hits and 9 runs over six innings and striking out 2.
