IMS Softball Defeated by L&M

The IMS softball team had a tough time generating runs on Tuesday, dropping their game with the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons 7-0. IMS had no hits. A defensive highlight for IMS came in the fifth inning when catcher Avery Blauvelt fired a shot to shortstop Suzanna Yoder covering third to pick off a runner attempting to steal. Hannah Harris took the loss for Iowa Mennonite. She pitched 6 innings, allowing 10 hits and 7 runs while striking out 1.

IMS Softball Loses to Pekin

IMS Softball Team

The IMS softball team scored 2 runs in the first and 1 in the second to stay within a run in the top of the third, but committed four errors in the bottom of the inning to give Pekin a five-run lead. IMS came back with 3 runs of their own and held Pekin scoreless for the rest of the game, but it wasn’t enough as Pekin captured the 6-10 win. Suzanna Yoder went 3-4 at the plate with a triple, 1 RBI and 2 runs scored. Rubye Ney went 3-4 with a double, 2 RBI and 1 run scored. Hannah Harris went 2-3 with an RBI and Mia Graber went 2-4. Avery Blauvelt sacrificed for an RBI. Sarah Miller and Joya Schrock each singled. Harris pitched 7 innings, allowing 13 hits and 10 runs while striking out 1.
