For the second year in a row, junior Trevor Leyden advances to district play in golf with three birdies on the back nine to shoot 50-41 for a 91. He was the second qualifying individual at the 1A sectional in Winfield. The IMS boys’ team ended their season with 5th place. Trevor Leyden was also named to 3rd team All-Conference. On the girls’ team, junior golfers Gretta Rempel and Lara Kliewer were also named to the All-Conference team. Gretta made 3rd team and Lara honorable mention. The girls’ season ended Monday with a 7th place finish at the class 1A regional in Marengo with a 529 team score.
IMS soccer has had an exciting season beating #1 Iowa City Regina and #3 Williamsburg. They are currently ranked #4 in class 1A for the state. IMS has only had one loss so far this season. That was to Burlington Notre Dame in the championship game of the conference tournament. Their most recent win was to Washington this past Monday. Senior night and the last regular season match will be this Thursday, May 17 against Mt. Vernon. IMS is 14-1 overall and 8-0 in conference.
We have two runners advancing to state in four events. Levi Geyer will be running the 3200 and 1600. He won the 3200 at the state-qualifying meet and earned his spot in the 1600 based on time.
