IMS opened sub-state play against Mediapolis and quickly got down to business scoring 19 seconds after the opening whistle when Jacob Boller sent a crossing ball into Louis Etienne who turned the ball into the net. Six minutes later Boller and Etienne combined again for the second goal of the night and the 2-0 half time lead.
In the second half it took slightly longer to score as Boller notched his third assist of the night on a goal from Cole Ours two minutes into the half. Ours added the fourth goal minutes later on an assist from Gerardo Mendoza. Ours assisted on the next goal getting the ball to Levi Geyer who poked the ball by the goalie. Stepping up from his defensive role, Mitchell Schmieder finished the scoring on an assist from Drew Blauvelt.
The midfield of Isaiah Swantz, Gerardo Mendoza, Cody Jones and Cole Ours, along with the back line of Kobe and Reggie Borntrager, Eli Ours and Mitchell Schmieder, along with Tyler Swantz, did a good job all night of possessing the ball, playing good defense, and stifling Mediapolis’s pushes forward. Blake Bontrager recorded the shutout in goal.
IMS hosts Burlington Notre Dame Wednesday at 6:30. IMS moves to 16-1 on the season.
