During 2nd semester Compassion Club sponsored a pop tab drive for the Ronald McDonald House in Iowa City. Small groups were challenged to collect tabs from beverage, soup, and other aluminum cans to see who could bring in the most, with the winners receiving a Casey’s breakfast pizza. Sierra Cheney’s small group brought in the most – 43.8 oz worth. Overall, a 16.75 x 11.875 x 7 inch plastic tub was filled with almost 11 pounds of tabs. We hope taking the tab off an aluminum can before recycling the can will become a habit and plan to continue collecting. The community is welcome to bring in tabs to IMS – with little effort and no expense, you can make a difference for families staying at the Ronald McDonald House where they are close to their children in the hospital with serious illnesses.
