71st Commencement Speakers

Baccalaureate | Saturday May 26 6:00PM | Celebration Hall

Scott Roser

The speaker is Scott Roser. Student speakers are seniors Emma Beachy and Isaiah Swantz.

Scott is the father of IMS senior, Cameron Roser-Peet. Scott is the pastor at Spirit of Christ Church in Iowa City.

In his spare time he likes to garden, cook, and spend time with his three awesome sons Damari, Kevin, and Cameron. Scott’s faith journey has been supported by a few different Christian traditions. Lutherans baptized and trained him as a pastor, Catholic mystics shaped much of his spiritual life, and his current ministry is with American Baptists. Yet the Mennonites hold a very special place in his heart, and not just because he married one! As a young man, he participated in the most recent Iraq war, and this experience eventually led him to become a pacifist and he has come to deeply appreciate the Mennonite witness of nonviolence, justice, and simplicity.
