IMS traveled to Victor for a non-conference match-up with HLV on Saturday and came home with the 69-47 win over the Warriors. IMS jumped out to an 18-2 lead after one quarter and led 34-9 late in the half before HLV finished the half with a 4-2 spurt to make it 36-13 at the half.
Jeremy Niemeyer led the way offensively for IMS with a career-high 20 points. Cole Ours and Reggie Borntrager scored 14 points apiece. Cody Jones finished with eight points and Mitchell Schmieder scored seven. Borntrager and Schmieder each pulled down six rebounds, Cole Ours had seven assists and four steals, and Trevor Leyden had five steals and four assists.
Coach Dwight Gingerich said “this was a great opportunity for a lot of guys to get a lot of minutes. We were able to turn the pressure up early to take control. The second half wasn’t always pretty, but it was good to see our guys stay at it through that stretch as well.”
