Funds Raised for School in Puerto Rico

On September 27th, a request was sent out to all Mennonite schools associated with Mennonite Education Agency to see if they could help with the significant damage at Academia Menonita Betania in Puerto Rico.  Hurricane Maria had torn off rooftops, toppled trees and devastated the area.  The IMS student body responded to this request by asking to do two fundraisers.

The volleyball team took an offering at their home game on Tuesday evening.  Louisa-Muscatine fans joined the IMS community in donating and the crowd generated an offering of $1351.80.

Once or twice a month Compassion Club sponsors a “comfy clothing day” in which money is raised for different charity projects or local needs. Students were allowed to dress down Wednesday, October 4th, by wearing athletic shorts or sweats for a donation of $2 or more. Students and staff generously donated $398.20.

The two fundraisers totaled $1750 and the funds will be sent to Academia Menonita Betania. The amount surpassed our goal of raising $1000 for the school. Thank you to everyone in our community who joined in our efforts to help our sister school in Puerto Rico!
