Senior Levi Geyer placed fourth in the Stormin’ Pointer Invitational Tuesday in Center Point. Geyer ran a steady pace moving up through the field of 110 runners throughout the race. His final mile was his fastest as he finished the five kilometer course in 18:31. Jacob Boller was the team’s second runner placing forty-first in 21:30. Aaron Hershberger placed seventy-second in 23:41. Gedeon Sangare had his best race of the season placing eighty-first in 24:25. Micah Miller finished out the scoring for the maroon and white placing eighty-seventh overall in 25 flat. Johnny Diaz showed the biggest improvement on the team taking nearly one minute from his previous 5k best time. Gibson Lowenberg sprinted to the line to place one hundredth. Iowa Mennonite placed eighth in the nine team field. Anamosa won the team title while Jacob Wessel of Edgewood-Colesburg was the individual winner finishing in 17:55.

The Iowa Mennonite women placed eighth in the eight team field at the Bowers Athletic Complex in Center Point. The team placing disguises the huge improvement the young women from Iowa Mennonite have made from their performance at this meet last year. Sophomore Sarena Gerber ran the same course three and a half minutes faster this year to move up into the number one position on the team. She placed forty-ninth overall in 27:01. Mackenzie Gutierrez was right with her the entire way one place and four seconds back. Mackenzie took nearly two minutes off her time from last year. Greta Schrag’s improvement was close to three and a half minutes from last year. Greta slipped in front of Rachel Geyer with her finish kick. The pair placed seventy-ninth and eightieth in 30:53 and 30:54. Kennedy Roth was next for the team placing eighty-fifth in 32:53. Ainsley Shaw moved up one notch on the team placing eighty-sixth in 33:06. This is over a nine minute thirty second improvement from last year. Meredith Blossom was two places back. Sophomore Adrianna Katcher of Center Point-Urbana won the women’s race in 19:45. She is two for two at this meet. Anamosa won the team title with 38 points.
The cross country teams will be hosted next by City High on September 28 at the University of Iowa Ashton Cross Country course in Iowa City.
