Chapel Report for September 25-29, 2017: “Worship is Music”

This week’s chapel theme continued the theme of “Worship is Music”. On Monday, we were privileged to have Jason Sifford in chapel. Jason came to IMS as a result of Susan See’s retirement, and is now the on-site piano teacher at IMS. He introduced himself and played a few piano pieces. One was a piece written by Johann Sebastian Bach, who always signed his work, SDG, meaning “only for the glory of God.”

Tuesday’s chapel time was in small groups. Groups were encouraged to talk about what music connects them with God.

On Wednesday, we met in the lobby of Celebration Hall for a hymn sing led by Greta Schrag and Adria Ebersole. The acoustics in the lobby helped our singing sound amazing!

Thursday’s chapel featured four students each sharing an example of the music that helps to connect them with God. There were different styles represented, thus showing the variety of ways that God can meet us.

At the beginning of Friday’s chapel, we had a time of prayer remembering the Villatoro family and their church community. We concluded the music week with the IMS Praise Band leading our chapel time. Music is truly a gift from God that helps us connect with God in all circumstances.
