Blauvelt Receives Post-Season Softball Accolades

Avery Blauvelt, IMS junior catcher, has received two awards following the summer softball season.  Blauvelt received state recognition by being named to the 1A Honorable Mention All-State list.  Blauvelt batted .471 for the season and had 14 RBI.  She led the team in hits with 24 and on-base percentage with .533.  She slugged .549 which included 4 doubles. Blauvelt also caught the attention of area sportswriters and was named to the All-Golden Triangle Softball Team for smaller schools as a utility player.  Other GTST recipients were Kelsey Hora of Highland (MVP), Pitchers — Madie Anderson of WMU and Megan Hoenig of Highland; Infielders — Kaylee Linder of Pekin, Aly Stokes of Highland, Ellie Ledger of Pekin, and Layney Loyd of New London; Outfielders — Zoey Wright of Pekin, Sarah Schneider of Highland, Abby Tornow of Mid-Prairie, Abbie Miller of Highland, and Breanna Mettler of New London; Utility — Kassidy Verrips of Cardinal.  Carrie Wieland of Highland was named GTST Coach.  The Golden Triangle Softball Team was selected by Sports Editors Bill Gatchel of the Washington Evening Journal and Andy Krustinger of the Mt. Pleasant News, and Andy Hallman, News Editor at the Fairfield Ledger.
