IMS Clinches Win in District Final

IMS 10 Sigourney 0 (5 innings)

IMS played Sigourney in a District Final match-up, Saturday evening in  Keota. IMS built an early lead on a two RBI ground rule double by Blake Bontrager in the bottom of the first inning to take a 2-0 lead after one inning of play. IMS added two more runs in the bottom of the second on a two RBI double by Drake Brezina to make the score 4-0. IMS continued the strong hitting in the third inning adding five more runs, highlighted by a bases clearing three RBI double by Brezina, making the score 9-0 after three innings of play. Cole Ours drove in Noah Bruns in the bottom of the fifth inning ending the game, giving IMS the 10-0 win. Blake Bontrager pitched all five innings on the mound for IMS, allowing three hits. Cole Ours, Drake Brezina, Blake Bontrager, and Cole Yoder all had doubles for IMS. Noah Bruns and Isaiah Swantz each added a hit. IMS moves to 14-9 on the year, and will play North Linn in a Substate Final game Tuesday night at Cedar Rapids Prairie, with the game starting at 7 pm.
