ACT was founded in 1959 by Everett Franklin Lindquist, a professor at the University of Iowa, who was unhappy with the SAT. By 2007 every college in the country accepted the ACT. 2012 marked the first time the number of students taking the ACT surpassed the SAT, and by 2016 over 2 million students took the ACT.
Congratulations, Emma!
