The Iowa Mennonite girls track and field team scored 48 points to place eighth of nine teams at the competitive north division Southeast Iowa Super Conference track meet hosted by Winfield-Mt. Union Thursday. Suzanna Yoder placed second in the 400 meter dash with a personal best time of 1:04.70. Calli Shaw was fourth in 1:06.80 missing her personal by less than 0.1 second. Yoder was fourth in the 200 meter dash in 28.85 while Shaw was sixth in a personal best time of 29.41. Rubye Ney placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:14.72. Emma Beachy was fourth in the discus with a throw of 93’ 5.75”. The top seven places in the discus were within 3’ 3” of each other. Yoder jumped a personal best 15’ 4” to place seventh. Greta Schrag ran a personal best 7:04.14 in the 1500. The 4 x 800 meter relay team of Mackenzie Gutierrez, Avery Blauvelt, Payton Hart and Rachel Geyer placed fifth in 13:01.65. Shaw placed sixth in the 3000 in 12:33.74. The 4 x 400 meter relay team of Sarena Gerber, Mackenzie Gutierrez, Rubye Ney and Calli Shaw were also sixth running 4:45.22.

Drake Brezina highlighted the Iowa Mennonite boys track and field performance with a fourth place finish in the 400 meter dash with a time of 54.05. Adrian Gonzales ran a personal best 26.32 in the 200 meter dash. Adrian Venegas improved on his best performances in both the shot put and discus. Both the boys and girls teams will be competing at the state qualifier meet hosted by WACO in Wayland Thursday May 11. Field events begin at 4:00 and running events begin at 4:30.
