The Iowa Mennonite School boys and girls golf teams had a busy week of action competing in three meets. The boys finished the week with two conference wins over Lone Tree and Columbus and a 2nd place finish in a non-conference meet with Keota and English Valley. The girls team picked up a victory on Monday against Lone Tree as well.

The boys team moves to 3-1 in conference play and 4-2 overall. The girls move to 1-3 in conference play and 1-4 overall.

Coach Steve Nelson said this, “It was a great week of golf for the IMS team and program. Trevor Leyden and Caleb Yoder had fantastic weeks and have continued to improve and are becoming consistent leaders on the boys team. As the weather warms and our play gets more consistent, we will continue to see the team score improve. The win over Columbus was a big one for us. That is a well coached team that consistently has quality teams. We haven’t beaten them in a long time, so it is great to see us do it and especially rewarding to do it on their home course. The girls are continuing to improve as well. It is a challenge not having a full team, but even over the week we saw big improvements in our scores. Gretta continues to lead us each meet and compete for medalist honors, but Lara Kliewer, Monet Slabach, and Hannah Peters are improving daily, which is great to see.”
