Art Students attend Art Show & Workshop

The Southeastern Iowa Super Conference annual art show and workshops was hosted by Southeastern Community College in West Burlington this year.  This event involved 20 High Schools and included around 300 student participants. Each high school sent 14 students who are enthusiastic about art to participate in the workshops. The workshops were held on April 12 from 9:30 am to 2:30 pm on the  Southeastern Community College Campus. Each school also chose 15 artworks that best represent their art program to display in the juried show held at the Southeastern Community College Gallery.

IMS Student, Dohee Kim, received Best of Show Award for her “Self Portrait” watercolor.  Allison Moreland received 1st place in the Commercial Art / Graphic Design category and Roman Slabach received 1st place in the Computer Generated Art category. Roman also received 1st place in the Judges Category. Brandon Jimenez received 2nd place for his Achromatic Drawing and in the Sculpture category. Rachael Hovde received 2nd place in the Mixed Media category. Jim Wang got 3rd place in the pen and ink / scratch board category. Greta Schrag received an honorable mention in the Painting – Oil/Acrylic category, Anthony Villatoro received an honorable mention in the Photography category and Sarena Gerber received an honorable mention for her work titled “It is Finished” under the category of Commercial Art/Graphic Design.

The North Division Art Gallery is on display at the Southeastern Community College Gallery and Library from Monday, April 8th through Friday, April 14th.
