The IMS girls lost to the Louisa-Muscatine Falcons, 37-53 Tuesday night. Suzanna Yoder led IMS in scoring with 16 points, three assists and four steals. Alyssa Hershberger added 10 points, while Mia Graber chipped in four points to go with eight rebounds. Calli Shaw, Avery Blauvelt and Payton Hart each had a bucket, and Rubye Ney rounded out the scoring with a free throw. Blauvelt and Shaw grabbed eight and seven rebounds respectively.
IMS did some good things early on and found success executing sets in the opening minutes against the Falcon zone. However, turnovers and missed assignments on the defensive end gave way to a 12-5 run in the first, and an 11-5 run spanning from the third to the fourth.
“We’ve struggled throughout the season to shift momentum back in our direction once the other team goes on a run,” IMS head coach Kari Heusinkveld said. “Tonight, that was the difference in the game. They got stops and found ways to score and we didn’t respond.”
IMS returns to action for Senior Night on Friday, February 3rd against the Pekin Panthers. Tipoff is set for 6 pm.
