IMS lost a tough one to the Highland Huskies, 32-63.
A strong defensive effort for the opening four minutes of the first and good execution on the offensive end kept the game close, until Highland went on a 11-3 run to close out the quarter. Highland continued to put the pressure on IMS in the second, opening a 20-point lead and sent IMS into the locker room down 21-41.
Third quarter woes continued to plague IMS as they were unable to score until the final minute on a bucket by Rubye Ney. The Huskies continued their offensive attack and outscored IMS 22-11 in the second half. “This was a tough loss for us tonight,” IMS head coach Kari Heusinkveld said. “We’ve had a couple of setbacks as of late, but I’m confident we will get things figured out and get back on track. This is a resilient group who we will continue to stay positive and work with.”
Suzanna Yoder led IMS with 14 points, three assists and four steals. Alyssa Hershberger and Calli Shaw each added six points to go with eight and 11 rebounds respectively. Mia Graber, Payton Hart and Ney rounded out the scoring with a bucket each.
IMS plays at Columbus on Friday, Jan. 20 at 6 pm.
