Our theme this third week of Advent was Embodied. We used the theme verse John 1:14 – “The Word became flesh and made his dwelling among us. We have seen his glory, the glory of the one and only Son, who came from the Father, full of grace and truth.”
With the late start on Monday because of weather, we did not have chapel.
On Tuesday we met in our small groups. Students had the opportunity for some snack, a Bible study on John 1:1-4, work on blankets for Project Linus, collect prayer requests and to fellowship together.
Wednesday’s chapel was held in the gym. Maya led us in several prayer exercises which involved our whole bodies from the Christian series Praise Moves. Prayer requests which were collected in small groups were prayed for during this time.
On Thursday, we again heard the verse from John 1:14, this time in English and Spanish. A slide show was prepared to help us think of the significance of Jesus taking on flesh and blood of humanity. Our bodies are significant to God. The slide show featured everyone at IMS.
Friday’s chapel featured several musicians sharing their talents with us. After reading through the John 1:14 verse, Alisa shared an encouragement to enter into music as an act of prayer and worship. Alijah Beatty, Joya Schrock, Emma Beachy, Alyssa Gonzalez and Greta Schrag all shared their gifts of music with Christmas songs.
