Chapel Report for Oct. 31-Nov.4

Kenton & Kidron Miller
Kenton & Kidron Miller

The theme for last week’s chapel was LearnED. The explanation for this theme is that we are remembering and acknowledging all those who are influential in our lives, both past and present. We want to remember and honor the people who have served or serve as role models for us, those from whom we’ve learned about life and faith and following Jesus.

On Monday we had an All Saints Day service. We heard from Marcus Miller, Taylor Guyer, Brandon Jimenez and Steven Jimenez about persons who have been influential in their lives. They each lit a candle in memory or honor of their person. Then everyone was invited to come light a candle to remember an influential person in their lives.

Tuesday was our day in small groups in which we had the opportunity to share more about people who have served as role models for us.

On Wednesday was Grandparent/Mentor day in which students invited grandparents or mentors to join us for chapel. A panel of grandparents/mentors answered questions about their background and faith. Students whose grandparents or mentors came had some refreshments afterwards.

Thursday we gathered in small groups again to write thank you notes and letters to people who have been influential in our faith and life.

For Friday’s chapel, we hosted Kenton and Kidron Miller who have been living in Germany. Both Kenton and Kidron graduated from IMS. As they followed Jesus, they were led to unexpected places. They challenged the students to be open to unexpected things as followers of Jesus.
