Jacob Boller led the Iowa Mennonite boys cross country team at the Bud Williams cross country invitational hosting by Iowa City High at the Iowa City Kickers Soccer Complex Thursday. Six Iowa Mennonite men competed at the junior varsity level while five of their teammates were not able to either start or finish the race. Boller ran an excellent race lowering his personal record set last year by over forty seconds. Cameron Roser-Peet was the next finisher for the team placing forty-fourth in 20:51. Juan Andino tied his personal best time of 21:06 for forty-eighth place. Seth Danga ran an excellent race taking over one minute off his previous personal best time. Micah Miller also lowered his personal best time by forty-one seconds. Jesse Slater was the team’s sixth runner placing ninety-third in 26:34.

Senior Calli Shaw lead her team again, this time running a season best time of 23:53 to place fourteenth in the junior varsity race. Sophomores Mackenzie Gutierrez and Rachel Geyer did not compete due to illness. Sarena Gerber equaled her best time finishing in 28:41 for fiftieth place. Greta Schrag had a very good race placing fifty-ninth in 31:25. But Ainsley Shaw was the team’s star tonight taking a full four minutes off her previous best time finishing in 36:37. “Things really came together for Ainsley tonight. It was great to see her run so well!”

On Monday October 3rd the cross country teams host the Iowa Mennonite Invitational at the Wellman golf course. The meet features eighteen boys and girls area teams. The meet starts at 4:00 p.m. with two junior high races followed by four high school races. Come support your favorite runners.
