Baseball defeats Lone Tree in Wednesday afternoon game

IMS played Wednesday afternoon at home against Lone Tree. The Lions got out to an early 2-0 lead scoring one run in the first and one run in the third inning. IMS answered in the bottom of the third inning scoring three runs on hits to take a 3-2 lead. IMS got two more runs in the fifth inning, highlighted by a Noah Bruns RBI single. Jakob Schmidt scored for IMS in the bottom of the sixth inning to make the score 6-2 heading into the last inning. Lone Tree scored three runs and had runners on first and second with one out when Nick Yutzy came into pitch. Yutzy struck out the next Lion hitter for the second out of the inning and then picked the runner off second base to end the game sealing the 6-5 win for IMS.

Blake Bontrager got the win on the mound pitching 6 ⅓ innings striking out six Lion hitters. IMS was led on offense with hits by Nick Yutzy, Noah Bruns, Jacob Schmieder, and Cole Ours.

IMS is 3-2 on the year and play Thursday night at home against West Burlington.
