The Iowa Mennonite girls track and field team scored 47 points at the Southeast Iowa Super Conference north division meet in Wapello Thursday to place seventh in the ten team field. Calli Shaw placed third in the 3000 meter run with a time of 13:31.11 eclipsing her old personal record by thirty-six seconds. Emma Beachy placed third in the discus with a throw of 89 feet six inches. Suzanna Yoder was fourth in the 100 meter dash with a personal best time of 13.62 (hand-timed). Rubye Ney placed fourth in the 400 meter hurdles in 1:11.90. This is her best time in her third attempt at the event. Suzanna Yoder was sixth in 1:15.92 in her first attempt at the event. She also placed fifth in the long jump with a new personal record jump of 15 feet 2 inches. Avery Blauvelt was fifth in the 3000 meter run. Rubye Ney was fifth in the 100 meter hurdles. Alyssa Gonzales was fifth in the 1500 in 5:59.34 taking sixteen seconds off her previous best time. Avery Blauvelt took eleven seconds off her best 1500 meter time placing seventh in 6:02.81. Rachel Miller was seventh in the long jump and Calli Shaw was seventh in the 400 meter dash. The sprint medley relay team of Miller, Taylor Guyer, Mackenzie Gutierrez and Shaw placed sixth in 2:06.27. The 4 x 200 meter relay team of Gutierrez, Grace Belin, Guyer and Shaw ran a season best time of 2:03.98.
“The conditions were the best we have had this year and some of the performances reflected that. Times in the distance events made some big advances. We also tried a few new things. It was a great evening of track and field,” Coach Marty Gingerich commented.

The boys track and field team pulled off an amazing feat in the running events at the SEISC north division meet in Wapello May 5. Every running performance by the team is a new personal or team best! Four events are first attempts at the event. Five performances by the team lowered existing personal records. Placing fifth were Levi Geyer in the 1600 in 4:58.89, Drake Brezina in the 400 in 53.41 and the 4 x 400 meter relay team of Jim Wang, Noah Brun, Geyer and Brezina. Brezina placed sixth in the long jump. Each event the team ran brought a new surprise!
