Baseball falls short on first game of season

baseballThe IMS baseball team opened the season at Mediapolis Friday night falling 7-15 to the Bulldogs. Mediapolis jumped out to an early 4-0 lead after two innings of play. IMS got on the board in the top of the third inning off a RBI triple by Drake Brezina scoring Nick Yutzy from first base. The Bulldogs added four more runs in the fourth inning to push the lead to 8-1. IMS scored two more runs in the top of the fifth inning on two bases loaded walks to make the score 8-3. Mediapolis responded with four more runs in the bottom of the inning to increase their lead 12-3. In the top of the sixth inning IMS got one run on a RBI single by Nick Yutzy. A balk by the pitcher scored another run, and a ball hit off the left center field fence by Drake Brezina plated two more runs for IMS making the score 12-7. Mediapolis responded again in the bottom of the inning scoring three runs to make the final score 15-7.

Nick Yutzy and Drake Brezina led IMS offensively with two hits each. Noah Bruns and Timothy Bender also had hits for IMS. IMS is 0-1 on the year and plays next Tuesday night at home against Holy Trinity.
