IMS   5,   Central Lee, Donnelson 0

It took awhile against a much improved Central Lee team but once IMS started scoring, five different players found the goal for a 5-0 win. Through much of the first half IMS dominated possession and created good scoring chances but found numerous ways to hit the crossbar, the posts, or the goalie. Thirty minutes into the half Jared Schlabaugh intercepted a ball near the top of the penalty box. It took a couple of tries by Schlabaugh but he finally got the ball to Gerardo Mendoza who took a step and sent the ball to the corner of the net for the1-0 lead. Play continued on as the back line of Jakob Schmidt, Mitchell Schmieder, Blake Bontrager along with Jacob Boller, kept the ball on the Central Lee half of the field for the majority of the half. As time wound down Nick Yutzy got the ball wide, took it towards the endline, then sent a cross into the front of the box where Nick Hwang was waiting to knock the ball in the goal with 14 seconds left in the half.

The second half began with a bang as Gerardo Mendoza beat a player on the left side, then slotted a ball to Anthony Villatoro who notched the third goal of the night just two minutes into the half. The last two goals were directed by Cole Ours operating out of the midfield. First to benefit from Ours assist was Isaiah Swantz who tallied his goal fifteen minutes into the half. Five minutes later Ours tapped the ball to Jacob Schmieder who hit his goal from near the edge of the box. Cole Yoder and Isaac Miller combined in goal for the shutout.

IMS moves to 5-4 overall and 5-2 in conference play. IMS returns to action Saturday hosting Des Moines Christian at 10:00. Fairfield and West Liberty play at 12:00, followed by the consolation game at 2:00 and the championship game at 4:00.
