On April 13 sixteen IMS students enthusiastic about art took part in our annual district art workshops held at Southeastern Community College (SCC)  in West Burlington.  There were eight workshops that students could choose from, covering acrylic painting, watercolor, graphic design, weaving, floral arrangement, jewelry, pastels, and ceramics. Twenty high schools participated including around 300 student participants.

Each school also chose 15 artworks that best represent their art program to display in the juried show held at the Southeastern Community College gallery. A number of our IMS students placed this year including the best of show by Monet Slabach. Rachael Hovde got first place in the graphics design category, and Isaac Miller got second place for his graphic design piece. Taylor Guyer placed second for her photography. Sydney Moreland placed third for her acrylic painting as well as third place for her computer graphics artwork. Allison Moreland placed third for her watercolor. A number of students received an Honorable Mention including Caroline Gianola for her acrylic painting, as well as Nick Yutzy for his computer graphics, and Natalie Graber for her watercolor.
