Monday evening Compassion Club members packaged 2160 meals for “Kids Against Hunger”.  That’s ten boxes each holding 36 bags with a bag providing enough food for six people. Each bag, consisting of a blend of dehydrated vegetables, soy, vitamins, minerals and rice, requires only boiling water to fix. According to the food scientists who developed the food, it supplies the optimum amount of nutrition for a malnourished child. The meals Compassion Club packaged will be sent to an orphanage in Nairobi, Kenya.
Ellis & Marcia Miller, of Lower Deer Creek Mennonite Church, got involved with this national organization several years ago. They have a mobile unit that brings the assembly line to local churches, schools, or community events. Their goal for this year is 100,000 meals.
