The results from this year’s food drive are in and they are impressive! The event was hosted by the IMS National Honor Society and Compassion Club and ran from November 23 through today (December 4). NHS had set a lofty goal of 1000 items to be collected and donated to the Wellman and Kalona Food Pantries. NHS sponsor, Lynn Yoder said “We really didn’t think we could collect that much. But the whole student body really came through and we did it!”

NHS had decided to make this year’s food drive a competition between the grades – which may have been the reason for the strong showing of support. In the end the junior class squeaked by the freshmen and won by one point! The IMS PTO is rewarding the junior class with a breakfast pizza party next week.

NHS students sorted, boxed, and will deliver the food to pantries this afternoon.

Thank you to anyone who supported this effort! What a wonderful way to help your community!
