Coming to Celebration Hall on Saturday, November 7 (7 pm) and Sunday, November 8 (3 pm) is the musical Cotton Patch Gospel. Cotton Patch by Tom Key and Russell Treyz is based on the book, The Cotton Patch Version of Matthew and John by Clarence Jordan. In this Greatest Story Ever Retold, the gospel is presented in a setting of rural Georgia with a bluegrass band accompanying the singers with music and lyrics written by Harry Chapin. As this gospel begins, Mary Davidson gives birth to Jesus in an abandoned trailer, Herod is the mayor of Atlanta and inevitably, Christ is lynched by local thugs only to rise again. The cast consists of 24 students.
