Calli Shaw had a great race at the Waterworks Classic in Fairfield Thursday. Shaw competed at the junior varsity level placing fourth in 23:09. “Calli ran a very evenly paced race tonight. Many major records in distance running events were set by running an evenly paced race or even slightly faster at the end of the race. We work hard on this all season. Calli’s first and final miles were run at the exact same pace while her second mile was only seven seconds slower. This was a great way for her to end her season.” Mackenzie Gutierrez was the team’s first varsity finisher for the second race in a row. Gutierrez ran the course in 24:06 and placed fifteenth. Rachel Geyer was four places back finishing in 25:38. Gwynne Wright of Pekin won the race in 18:38 while her team took the team title.
